چکیده
Abstract Background The aim of this study is to discuss the detailed surgical steps endoscopic-assisted epi-tympanic approach (EAEA) round window (RW) as a safe, precise, and reliable for cochlear implantation (CI) also evaluate possible problems limitations faced, their management strategies, how overcome. Results This was carried on 40 patients admitted (CI). were divided into two equal groups; first group underwent CI via epitympanic (EAEA), while second comparison classic posterior tympanotomy. There statistical significant difference regards scalar location electrodes; all EAEA cases inserted through ST in 45% conventional cases. no linear angular insertion depth between groups. needed shorter time finish procedure taking from 90 195 min, whereas consumed longer ranging 120 185 min; that found be statistically significant. No facial nerve injury reported endoscopic approach. Conclusions Endoscope-assisted safe soft surgery CI. Visualization RW electrode under control significantly successful

Endoscopic-Assisted Cochlear Implantation: A Case Series.
The aim of the present study was to describe the use of the endoscopic-assisted cochlear implantation in cases with an unsuccessful standard surgical technique because of not achieving adequate exposure to the round window (RW). Three patients with a bilateral profound hearing loss were operated using an endoscopic-assisted cochlear implant procedure at our tertiary university referral center b...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS To assess whether transcanal endoscopic access to the basal turn of the cochlea for cochlear implantation is appropriate. STUDY DESIGN Case series study. METHODS We reviewed 100 consecutive computed tomographic studies of the sinuses and temporal bone in our institution. We excluded studies that demonstrated evidence of congenital anomalies, chronic ear disease, or ina...

متن کاملCOCHLEAR IMPLANTATION IN IRAN
Cochlear implantation has become an increasingly common procedure in the rehabilitation of selected cases of profound deafness.' Patients should have profound total bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Sound is transformed into small electric currents which stimulate the auditory nerves in the cochlea and generate the hearing sensation. The nucleus cochlear implant is the result of more t...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS To evaluate a transcanal approach for placement of a stimulating electrode array in the cochlear nerve. STUDY DESIGN Prospective cadaveric temporal bone study. METHODS Ten human cadaveric temporal bones were dissected. Both a facial recess approach with mastoidectomy and a transcanal approach using the novel technique were performed in each bone. A middle fossa dissect...
